Dr Sharron A. FitzGerald is the Founder and Director of the LEX Research Network. She is an internationally recognised feminist researcher with expertise on the intersection of law, gender and sexuality. She has taught in universities in Canada, the UK and most recently in Munich, Germany. Currently, her research focuses on the intersection of gender, sexuality and mobility with a particular focus on human trafficking, gender-based violence, social justice, sexual politics and victim-centred approaches to victim protection in the criminal justice system. She is the founder of the Irish Sex Work Research Network (ISWRN). She has published widely on these topics in international journals and has edited two books on these topic Regulating the Movement of Women: From Protection to Control (Routledge 2011) and European Sexual Politics: Moving Targets, Sitting Ducks (with May-Len Skilbrei) and Gender, Equality and Social Justice: Anti Trafficking, Sex Work and Migration Law and Policy in the EU (2022/2023 Taylor Francis with Jane Freedman). Her international research collaborations include ‘Medical, legal and lay understandings of physical evidence in rape cases (Evidently Rape)’ with she is CI with May-Len Skilbrei (PI).
